Hailing from Toulon in the South of France, Ben Thouard's life has been profoundly shaped by the ocean, which he describes as his upbringing, "I have been raised by the sea." Growing up in a family of six, Thouard's older brothers introduced him to surfing at a young age, instilling in him a profound connection with the sea. Surfing quickly became a central part of his life.
During his teenage years, Ben stumbled upon an old camera in his parents' attic, sparking a new passion for photography. He pursued photography with zeal, studying in Paris.
The ocean's call lured him back to the waves in January 2006 with a pivotal trip to Hawaii. Ben has since made his home in Teahupoʻo, French Polynesia, where he continues his work.
