RamosJusto Amable Garrote Ramos is a classically trained painter who is fluent in surrealist imagery informed by his Latin American cultural narrative. As a Cuban artist currently living in Mexico, his work incorporates this rich cultural duality. Ramos is classically trained and is able to depict the figure masterfully; he extends this skill to bring synthetic beings to life, using this aesthetic to depict sympathetic portraits of technology.
His paintings craft emotional narratives where the protagonists are machines that, despite their mechanical nature, convey profound feelings—grief, intimacy, and a new cultural reality. Ramos paints robot-romanticism, portraits that both celebrate and question our relationship with technology, creating a tension that speaks to our current moment while employing surrealism's technique of emotionally charged objects.
