Zhengyao Zuo China

Zhengyao Zuo is a professor and graduate supervisor at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Art. He currently serves as Vice President of Guangdong – Hong Kong – Macao Greater Bay Area Artists Alliance and President of the contemporary art club West Pacific. From 2005 to 2019, he was Director of the University City Art Museum. He has also held important academic and curatorial positions, including: Deputy Director of the Ceramic Art Committee of the China Artists Association (3rd Term); juror for the 11th–14th National Art Exhibition, China; juror for the 3rd China Art Award; Chairman of the Federation Asian Artists - China Committee (12th–23rd Terms); member of the Guangdong Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Committee; and member of the International Academy of Ceramics (IAC) under UNESCO. From 1996 to 2002, Zuo was the curator at the Guangdong Museum of Art. In 1994, he was seconded to the Ministry of Culture of China to direct the 1994 China Art Exposition. From 1985 to 1991, he taught at Central China Normal University. He graduated in 1984 from the Department of Chinese Painting at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts. His works have been exhibited internationally at institutions including Torrance Art Museum (Los Angeles, USA), Fukuoka Asian Art Museum (Japan), National Gallery Singapore, Ariana Museum (Geneva, Switzerland), National Art Gallery of Malaysia, Daejeon Museum of Art (Korea), Tallinn Art Hall of the Republic of Estonia (Estonia}, National Museum of History and Culture of Belarus (Belarus), Historical Museum of Serbia (Serbia}, Tesa alle Nappe and Tese di San Cristofaro, Arsenale Nord (Venice Biennale 2013) (Italy), Liechtenstein Art Museum (Austria), University of Brighton Gallery (UK), Chinese Cultural Center in Berlin, University of South Australia Art Museum, Chinese Cultural Center in Sydney, Castle Gallery in West Pomerania (Poland), Bandung Museum of Fine Arts (Indonesia), Chinese Cultural Center in Bangkok, Fairfield University Art Museum (USA), H Foundation Art Space (Los Angeles), and the National Art Museum of China, among others.
