VEFA Gallery is honored to host a special evening with Ron Holland, one of the most visionary yacht designers of the modern era, whose celebrated genius is rooted in his art and is presented in his first solo exhibition, Drafted Destiny.

For as long as he can remember, Ron has been sketching the graceful lines of boats. What began as a boy’s fascination with sailboats became a lifelong artistic pursuit, one that reshaped the very face of yacht design. Over the course of his career, Ron created more than 490 original yacht designs, from nimble racing craft to some of the world’s most celebrated superyachts.

Ron Holland is a sailing legend with an iconic global standing and the proud member of Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron. New Zealand and Ireland are both claiming him as their own. Ron represents the creativity, sportsmanship and global vision at the very foundation of the Olympic Spirit. As a current Culver City resident, Ron is a passionate supporter of his homeland New Zealand Olympic Committee's bid to establish a hospitality house in Culver City, California for the 2028 LA Summer Olympics. Ron supports NZOC agreement with Culver City which has recently hit an unexpected and unfortunate roadblock from the city council.

A portion of the sales from Ron's art will go toward Culver City fund to host NZOC.

Holland’s genius lays in his deeply artistic vision. His artistry of curvature, the sweeping lines and sculptural forms married beauty with performance, producing vessels that cut across the water with unmistakably unique elegance and speed. The art is the very essence of the famous Ron Holland design DNA. He revolutionized the sport of competitive sailing in the 1970s, and his artistry soon extended into luxury yachting, where the unique power of his designs continue to inspire awe and admiration around the globe.

At VEFA Gallery, Drafted Destiny reveals Holland’s lifelong practice of drawing. It presents to the public for the first time the intimate watercolors and sketches that shaped the vision behind his greatest achievements on the sea. This exhibition also offers a rare opportunity and insight into a very special creative process at the intersection of art, innovation, and human passion.
